    January 30, 2012

    Happy belated New Year everyone! Just a reminder for our meeting at Fraser Village this Wednesday, February 1st, from noon to 2:00.

    We'll have a special guest in attendance, Terry Bordeleau, who will talk to us about eBooks, answer any questions we might have, and allow us to play with a sample he did for Marg Taylor.

    Also, since our reading meeting was cancelled on January 18th, bring along something to share with the group!

    Artistic Opportunity: If you like to draw and would like to illustrate stories for local authors, let us know.

    Publications: We publish an anthology of members' stories and poems every second year and market these through the Farmer's Market (2nd Saturday, May-September), Cariboo Keepsakes, Art Gallery Gift Shop, various craft sales, and retail outlets from Williams Lake to Prince George and Barkerville.

    The Ink Spot: A place for members to share anecdotes, poems, miscellaneous prose, quotes, etc. If you would like to contribute, contact Pam at: pcrocker@quesnelbc.com

  • Quesnel Wordspinners is a peer-supported group that encourages all levels of writing experience.

    Come and enjoy

    - spending time in a creative enviroment with others who share your interests
    - reading your work before a supportive audience
    - publishing a story or poem in our books
    - learning through various mini-workshops given throughout the year
     

    Monthly meetings

    Business meetings - the first Wednesday of the month (noon to 2 p.m.) in the  Fraser Village common room.
    Mid-month reading/mini-workshop meetings - in members' homes on the third Wednesday (same time).

    To eBook or Not to eBook...

    Do you ever wonder (or are you currently struggling with) how you can convert your books, journals, whitepapers, instruction manuals and such from a “designed for print/PDF” format to a digital eBook for the iPad bookstore, the Amazon Kindle, the Barnes & Noble Nook, Chapters Kobo, and other devices? If you have questions about what is involved with publishing your content to the digital world, come and join the Quesnel Wordspinners for our meeting at Fraser Village on February 1st.

    Our New Cookbook

    We are still looking for submissions for our cookbook. Listed below are some ideas. If you have any other suggestions, please let us know.

    • anecdotes or stories centered around a particular recipe, or recipes
    • family favourites, perhaps a unique recipe you've picked up on your travels
    • humerous incidents or recipe bloopers/disasters
    • helpful hints, tips, or tricks
    • drawings or photos to go along with your recipe(s)

    As we get more information, we will keep you posted on this site.
